Bill Walsh Goes from the Golden Gates
to the Pearly Gates

NFL coaching legend and San Francisco 49ers GOD Bill Walsh died today, taking with him a piece of my cursed soul.

If you know me or have read El Gammy’s Blog of Death at all, you know I think christianity and its bible are about as realistic as Harry Potter and the Wrath of the Galgamecs, but if there is one man who deserves to go a place called “Heaven,” it’s Bill Walsh. The man was pure genius. He pretty much singlehandedly built the 49ers Dynasty of the 80s and revolutionized the NFL with his West Coast offense. Walsh either coached or picked the players that won 5 Super Bowl Rings for the Niners during the 80s and 90s – and now he’s gone.

I could go on and on about what he meant (and still means) to the game, but you can just read all the countless articles that will soon be written about him. If you do, you’ll also learn of how much he was loved as a man and a person, not just as a coach or GM.

I’m gonna stop now before I get even sappier and break down in blog tears. It’s a sad, sad day today, and the Braves couldn’t have picked a worst time to announce they acquired Mark Teixeira from the Rangers.
